The Virginia's Cory (Corydoras virginiae) is a peaceful and attractive bottom-dwelling catfish that makes an excellent addition to community aquariums. Like other Corydoras, they are social fish that thrive in groups and spend their days foraging the substrate for food.
Care
- Adult Size: Up to 2.5 inches
- Temperament: Peaceful
- Tank Size: 20+ gallons
- Temperature: 72–79°F
- Diet: Omnivore; accepts sinking pellets, frozen foods, and live foods
- Difficulty: Easy
Virginia's Corys do best in groups of six or more and appreciate soft sand or smooth gravel to protect their sensitive barbels. Provide plenty of hiding places with driftwood and plants, and maintain clean, well-oxygenated water for healthy, active fish.
Note: Never rely on Corydoras to "clean" your aquarium—they still require a balanced diet and regular feedings to thrive.
