Splash Tetra Care Guide
Description: The Splash Tetra, scientifically known as Copella arnoldi, is a fascinating and distinctive species prized for its unique appearance and playful behavior. With its elongated body and vibrant colors, this tetra adds a dynamic touch to any aquarium.
Behavior: Splash Tetras are energetic and playful fish, often seen darting near the water's surface in small groups. They are known for their unique spawning behavior, where females deposit eggs above the waterline on overhanging vegetation.
Tank Requirements: Provide a well-decorated aquarium with plenty of vertical space and overhanging vegetation to mimic the natural habitat of the Splash Tetra. Offer floating plants, driftwood, and tall aquarium plants as potential spawning sites. A tank size of at least 20 gallons is suitable for a small group of these tetras.
Water Parameters: Maintain stable and slightly acidic to neutral water conditions, with temperatures ranging from 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C) and a pH level between 6.0 to 7.0. Ensure good water quality through regular water changes and efficient filtration.
Diet: Splash Tetras are omnivorous and will accept a variety of foods, including high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. Offer them a varied diet to ensure they receive essential nutrients for growth and health.
Compatibility: Splash Tetras are peaceful and can coexist with a wide range of tank mates, including other small, peaceful fish species that share similar water parameters. However, avoid keeping them with larger or aggressive tank mates that may intimidate or harass them.
Max Size: 2.5 inches
