Ameca splendens, or the Butterfly Splitfin, is a captivating and endangered species native to Mexico, these tank-bred fish mimic mollies in care and breeding and are a neat addition to the biotope aquarium.

Max Size:
- Adults typically reach a size of around 2.5 to 3 inches (6.4 to 7.6 centimeters) in length.
Behavior:
- Peaceful and social fish, best kept in groups of at least six individuals.
- Active swimmers that occupy all levels of the aquarium but tend to prefer the middle and upper regions.
Tank Requirements:
- Minimum tank size of 20 gallons (75 liters) for a small group of Ameca splendens.
- Provide ample swimming space along with densely planted areas and hiding spots to mimic their natural habitat.
- Utilize a tight-fitting lid, as these fish are capable jumpers.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 68°F to 75°F (20°C to 24°C).
- pH: 7.0 to 8.0.
Diet:
- Omnivorous diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food.
Compatibility:
