Who is Armored Cat Aquatics?

Hi guys! Name is Korie, and I am a co-owner of Armored Cat Aquatics.

I decided to try and start this whole blog writing thing, but figuring out where to start is actually super hard, so today is going to be a short one! I do have some ideas brewing in my mind, like basic plant care, favorite fish foods, fish room tour, personal tanks tour, favorite fish, equipment reviews, etc. I would love to hear some suggestions/ideas!

I do not claim to be an expert, by any means. Any advice given is solely from experience, research, or from talking to aquarium veterans. There is so much to learn about this hobby and I hope I never get to a point where I know everything because that would be boring. The learning curve of this hobby is what keeps me interested. I love problem-solving, trying new things, learning to build some things myself to save money, etc. If I knew it all, it would feel more like a routine, rather than a challenge - and I love a good challenge.

Of course, there are plenty of other reasons I got involved in aquariums. Aquariums have been proven to help with anxiety and depression, and when I am feeling low, getting arms deep in fish water and fish poop is exactly what I need. I do not mind the dirty work of the hobby. I find it rather soothing. I suppose that is how you know you found the right hobby - when the nasty side of it is still fun.

Starting Armored Cat Aquatics was taking my hobby to a whole other level for sure. The whole thing is a huge learning curve and I'll be honest, my fiancé (Jaime) and I have no idea what we are doing. We just take everything one step at a time, while setting up our short and long-term goals for the company. There is one thing we know for sure though. We want to set people up to succeed. This means quality, healthy fish who have been quarantined before they go to the tanks of our customers. Clear, concise, and straight-to-the-point facts will be listed to ensure our customers have the important knowledge of the fish they are interested in so they can provide proper care & avoid making common mistakes. The same goes for our aquarium plants. We will gladly help you pick the best plants that are for your tank and be honest with you when it comes to what plants we think you can handle successfully. We are not in this for the money, we are in this to expand people's knowledge of the hobby as well as setting people up to succeed so they can enjoy the hobby, worry-free!

I do ask that you please be patient with us. We are brand new and still learning a lot of things every day. We have been having a lot of firsts, for example, summer heat hurting some plants during shipping. This was our first summer shipping plants, so we did not know what to expect. Once we realized the heat was the issue (especially when shipping further distances), insulated boxes were used and USPS First-Class stopped being offered. This is our first winter shipping plants and we are expecting to run across a new issue again, but this time we are prepared with heat packs. We will always fix any issue that is our fault. There is no reason any customers should suffer due to a mistake on our part.

Thank you so much for reading this far and for visiting our website. It means so much to us when we are given a chance to prove ourselves. We have so many idols in this hobby and every purchase helps us get closer to our dreams of being as successful and knowledgeable as them.

Posted below is one of my brand new tanks I have just set up in my bedroom. I decided to try something new. Larger fish than I normally keep, as well as a blackwater setup. It is a 90 gallon with a Gold Severum, Albino Hecklii, Gibbiceps Pleco, L191 Royal Pleco, L128 Blue Phantom Pleco, and a L091 Dragon-fin Three Beacon.
